Mohammed Amin led his troops, largely farmers, from Hazerasp against
the Kazakh prince who quickly fled to Bukhara. He then attempted to take
the throne. However, although Mohammed was of noble blood, he was not
a direct descendent of Genghis Khan, and was therefore ineligible for
Khanship. Not put off, he set about placing a puppet Khan on the throne
and pronouncing himself 'Mohammed Amin Inaq'. Inaq means 'Khan's brother'
or 'chieftain', and Mohammed effectively ruled as Khan. He consolidated
his power with the intention of putting his son on the throne, regardless
of Mongol bloodline. Although his rule was brief, he succeeded in his
aims and founded the Kungrad dynasty who ruled until the 1920s. |
