Khiva Silk Workshops
Our carpet workshop opened in 2001 as a joint project between Operation Mercy and UNESCO. It currently employs around 55 people in a town where unemployment is very high.
Our suzanni workshop opened in 2004 as a joint project between Operation Mercy and the British Council. It currently employs around 35 people.
We have two main aims:
  • To create stunning silk carpets and suzannis using natural dyes and reviving traditional designs.
  • To provide income generation and skills training for the poor.
We value ethical practices and are committed to paying fair wages punctually and putting profits back into the workshops.
