This modest neighbourhood mosque is a classic example of Khivan architecture with a simple north-facing aywan to keep the faithful cool while praying in summer as well as an interior to keep the worst of the winter elements at bay. "Ota" means grandfather and the term "Sayid" was a title bestowed upon the direct descendents of Mohammed. Today the building is used as a warehouse and part of the surrounding mahallah (neighbourhood) has been torn down and turned into a garden.
