These are two of the more notable minor maddrassahs clustered around the Pakhlavan Mahmoud mausoleum. The Mazar-i-Sharif madrassah was built in 1882 and named after a town in present-day northern Afghanistan. Two years later the Atajanbai Madrassah was constructed in honour of a dearly beloved, wealthy grandfather. Inside, you can see an alabaster mihrab as well as wood craftsmen and apprentices plying their trade.
