This historic dwelling, situated opposite Micha the camel, is named after the owner's grandfather who served as a 'Mirzabashi' or 'Chief Scribe' under the Khan. Zaina and her husband, Rashid, have opened up their guestroom as a bed and breakfast and for a taste of traditional Khivan family life and hospitality this is a great place to stay.
The house is over a hundred and fifty years old and boasts an impressive aywan where guests can choose to sleep in summer. There is a shower and a separate toilet reserved for tourists. Two people can be housed comfortably per night but larger groups are also welcome to put their sleeping bags down on the aywan and may be able to negotiate a group discount. A night with breakfast costs $15 per person, with additional meals costing $3.
Rashid can speak a little English along with a few phrases of French and German and his obliging wife will cook special food for vegetarians. To book, ring (8 362) 375 2753.
